Claira Sohn - SACNAS panelist!

SACNAS will host a panel discussion with the co-authors (including our own Claira Sohn, Frost lab PhD student) of new work published in Cultural Studies of Science Education. According to Claira, the project "aimed to gain a deeper understanding of why minorities, specifically Native Americans, do not persist in STEM and how we can help them overcome those barriers with mentorship and increasing awareness." Claira's undergraduate principle investigator Dr. Naomi Lee (Seneca) leads a summer program that provide opportunities for high school students from the Navajo reservation to spend seven weeks in a research lab. While Claira was in Dr. Lee's lab, she was paired with a high school student who she mentored and supported during the program.

Registration for the panel discussion is open to the public and is available until March 18, 2022.
